Five athletes were found to have violated anti-doping rules during the Paris 2024 Olympics, the International Testing Agency (ITA) announced on Thursday (19/9).
In total, 6,130 samples were collected from 4,154 athletes, or almost 39% of participants, between the opening of the Olympic Village and the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, from July 18 to August 11.
Of the five athletes who tested positive, two were disqualified from the Games before the start of the competitions.
Missions from America, China and France provided the largest number of samples, while athletics, swimming and cycling were the sports that came under the microscope more than the others.
The ITA tested at least 90% of athletes participating in the Games during the six months leading up to the Paris deadline, recording 40 anti-doping rule violations.
