Fantasia Barrino knows a thing or two about divorce, but the question is:
Is Fantasia divorced from her husband Kendall Taylor?
In the age of social media, many rumors start without context, which forces celebrities to answer questions that seemingly come out of nowhere.
In the case of Fantasia, there is a bit of fact and more than a bit of fiction behind the latest rumors.
So what’s the truth? Let’s dive in.
Meet Fantasia’s Husband, Kendall Taylor
Kendall Taylor has been Fantasia’s husband and business partner for 8 years.
The couple’s paths first crossed when they met at a rooftop bar in Charlotte in 2015. Both hailing from North Carolina, there was an instant attraction.
During an appearance in The Breakfast Club In 2019, the American Idol winner shared how she spent a lot of time working on herself before meeting Taylor:
“I knew I was broken as hell. I knew I was carrying a lot of stuff, but I wanted a relationship, but there was no way I could have one with all that baggage.”
The work paid off and their connection was so instant that Fantasia and Kendall were married 3 weeks after they met!
“He said, ‘Let’s do it.’ We went and got married at the registry office. None of you knew. The world didn’t know,” Barrino said. The Breakfast Club.
It’s true: before that, everyone thought they got married for a wedding ceremony on a yacht in July 2015.
Due to some fertility issues, Fantasia and Kendall took until May 2021 to welcome their daughter, Keziah, into the world. However, they both have children from previous relationships: Fantasia is also mom to son Dallas Xavier and daughter Zion Quari, while Kendall is also dad to son Treyshaun.
Kendall is also a proud grandfather to his son Trey’s two children.
Fantasia Lived Through the Pain of Divorce Before
Now, Kendall is her first husband, so if Fantasia divorces him, it would be her first marriage to end.
However, Fantasia survived the pain of divorce within his own family – and in one particularly confusing case.
First, her parents: Joseph and Diane Barrino had two children together. In her autobiography, Fantasia reveals that she was 5 years old when her father first pushed her onto the stage to perform at weddings, funerals, and house parties — both solo and with the five-member gospel troupe, the Barrino Family.
The family dynamics were volatile, with Fantasia writing in your book that her father sometimes had a violent temper. She the parents would later divorce when she was older, and there continues to be a rift between Fantasia and her father to this day.
Dating a Married Man
Then in 2010, Fantasia began a relationship with Antwaun Cook, a relationship that was documented on her reality show, Fantasia For Real.
The Grammy winner assumed Antwaun was separated from his wife when they dated “for about 11 months,” but that wasn’t the case.
At least that’s what Antwaun’s wife, Paula Cook, says.
When the couple finally divorced, the relationship with Fantasia ended.
“Antwaun would be remiss if he did not address the criticism and judgment he has received,” Cook’s attorney, Nicole Sodoma, said in a statement to the People at the moment.
“He knew Fantasia Barrino, but the failure of his marriage cannot be attributed to anyone except the two people who were part of the union – Paula and Antwaun.”
Fantasia’s Divorce Rumors: How They Started & His supposed answer
Okay, honestly, who knows how any rumor actually starts!
But from what we can gather, there has been a wave of unfounded comments on social media about Fantasia’s divorce around September 2024.
Fans were concerned because Kendall wasn’t appearing very often on her Instagram and they hadn’t been seen together on a red carpet since April.
Then, what appeared to be an entirely AI-generated article circulated online, suggesting not only that Fantasia had divorced Kendall, but that he had made a Dave Grohl and had an illegitimate child on the side.
Now, what are the chances of this happening twice in one year? Honestly!
But here’s the thing: the rumors are just that – rumors! No legitimate source or even a tabloid has given this story any credibility.
Additionally, a screenshot shared by Fantasia fans Instagram Stories confirm that she not only saw the rumor, but also debunked it.
“Now you’re all striving for the negative. Social media is the devil,” she supposedly shared (we didn’t see it with our own eyes, so we can’t confirm)
So for now, everything looks good for Kendall and Fantasia. Let’s hope it stays that way!
