The 10-year-old Japanese schoolboy who was attacked with a knife by a man in the Chinese city of Shenzhen yesterday has succumbed to his injuries.
The 10-year-old boy was attacked on his way to school yesterday morning. A 44-year-old man has been arrested as a suspect.
Japan demands explanations from China
Japan has asked China to provide a detailed explanation of the incident, according to the country’s Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa.
Following the child’s death, Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Masataka Okano summoned China’s ambassador to Japan Wu Xianggao to express his “serious concern.”
This is the second such attack near a Japanese educational institution in China in recent months.
In June, a man attacked a Japanese school bus in the eastern city of Suzu, killing a Chinese national who was trying to shield a Japanese mother and her child with his body.
