Now that Sister Wives Season 19 is now liveViewers are watching as the family processes their grief.
However, fans are also finding out who is — and isn’t — appearing. Not just on camera, but in family photos.
Some viewers are concerned that the family photos don’t appear to show Garrison. Is this what the family wanted? What’s going on?
Did TLC Erase Garrison Brown From ‘Sister Wives’ Season 19?
Naturally, as Sister Wives will show the family’s pain has been a topic of serious discussion among fans. We’re sure the family and producers have discussed this dark topic as well.
As always, our hearts go out to the entire Brown family. Garrison’s death by suicide It is a disappointment and a tragedy.
Fans are unsure whether TLC will make tasteful choices when it comes to showing the Brown family processing this loss. And one topic has to do with family photos. Are producers manipulating them?
“Garrison removed from family photos in season 19,” an alarmed Reddit resident wrote early Tuesday morning.
“What’s everyone’s opinion on this?” the Redditor asked. “It’s so shocking to me that he was just ‘erased’ from the group photos. It makes me kind of sad.”
Several commenters chimed in. Several users on the social media platform asked fellow fans not to jump to conclusions when it comes to family portraits that don’t appear to feature Garrison Brown. Missing doesn’t always mean “erased.”
First of all, Garrison Brown never appeared in these photos?
“I could be wrong, but I think he was in training when these photos were taken. Payton and Logan aren’t there either. These flagpole photos aren’t a professional let’s-get-everyone-together thing. I think it was more of a ‘well, we’re all here’ thing,” one commenter suggested.
“Maybe these photos were taken before Garrison moved to Arizona? (He moved to Arizona a year after the rest of the family),” another Redditor helpfully chimed in.
“I thought so, but when I looked up the photo, he’s not in it. I mean the ones from the photoshoot they use for this 2022 article,” a third Reddit user noted, linking to CBS8. “Yesterday I was able to find an old article that used the photo with only the Janelle side of the family, but I can’t find this one (now), yet Garrison is not in it.”
There is no “right way” for a reality show to cover a tragic death. The nature of the show and the nature of the loss are important. And the wishes of grieving loved ones are paramount.
TLC has edited things in the past. Most of the time, this means losing a bit of context, pixelating a brand logo, or obscuring a symbol of hate.
However, erasing the face of a deceased young adult from family photos would not be an over-correction. It would be morbid and in poor taste — especially if it was not the family’s desire.
Fortunately, it seems that this rumor is easily debunked.
We’re glad to see fans correcting themselves. Garrison Brown wasn’t erased from Sister Wives …he just wasn’t in every family photo. Not every group photo will show every member of such a large family.
Production for Sister Wives has a wide variety of family photos and “archive footage” of the Browns to play along with what has been filmed recently.
We’re sure the producers will be mindful when editing photos and footage of Garrison Brown. Family and fans are mourning his loss. However, we’re sure no one is trying to simply forget him.
