The United States is gathering information about simultaneous bomb explosions across Lebanon that killed at least nine people and injured 2,800 others.
State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said at a regular briefing that the US was not involved in the incident, did not know who was responsible and was not informed in advance.
Previously, Hezbollah has threatened to punish Israel for attacking its members.
Avoid comments
Miller stressed that civilians are not “legitimate targets” for any business, but declined to comment on the incident. At the same time, he did I urge Tehran not to exploit the episode this will fuel instability and further exacerbate tension in the region.
According to the spokesperson, it is still “too early” to assess how this attack in Lebanon could affect peace negotiations for the Gaza Strip.
