Quincy Brown is stepping into the spotlight at a time when his stepfather, Diddyis all over the news cycle. Ironically, Brown’s latest comments that have gained any traction are about his relationship with his biological father, Al B. Sure.
Quincy hints that he’s in a relationship with Al B. Of course!
Quincy opened up to Angela Yee about ‘Lip Service’ on where he stands in relation to Al B. Spoiler alert: the 33-year-old suggested that his father’s narrative is a little out of context!
“We’re cool now, I just talked to him a couple days ago, he was congratulating me on the album. But that’s not, I think we have a cool relationship. He tends to try to do the dad thing a lot, but it’s like that’s not really where we are in life. We’re bros, more than anything. We’re like, let’s do something, and I feel like that’s where we’re at now. We’re two grown men, we can talk about anything and everything. It’s not about anything else.”
For context, Yee brought up the father-son topic after asking Quincy if his public letter to his father sparked reconciliation. In 2020, Brown shared an open letter about the absence of his biological father in his life and how Diddy has been his “father figure.”
“Sean Combs is the person I admire and cherish as a father. He is the one who helped shape me into the person I am today and I will always strive to live up to his expectations. He has always supported me and I will always love and respect him,” Quincy wrote in his letter. “As far as my biological father is concerned, the ‘spitting image’ is all I have taken from him. Throughout my life, I have always wondered about him: Where was he? What was he doing? And most importantly, was he even thinking about me? My father’s absence has given me a better understanding of what kind of man I will become. I am grateful for my mother’s love, support, guidance and strength.”
In the interview with Yee, Quincy Brown also shared that Russell Simmons was the one who inspired him to open up to his father.
