Florida Surfer Jorge Alvarado — who was placed on life support after suffering a serious head injury during a crash in Daytona Beach last week — has died, his friends announced Wednesday. He was just 49.
Justin Gore provided the tragic update on Alvarado GoFundMe page… saying that the memories they created together will live forever.
“Jorge, rest in paradise, brother,” Gore said. “Your spirit was as vibrant as the ocean waves you loved to surf. You brought joy and adventure to everyone around you.”
Alvarado’s unfortunate death stems from the terrible accident he suffered south of Sunglow Pier on the morning of September 13th… when he supposedly hit his head and got stuck in a pier support.
It took several minutes for bystanders to free Alvarado before he was rushed to a nearby hospital and placed on life support.
“Although you are no longer with us, your passion for surfing and your infectious laugh will forever echo in our hearts,” Gore said.
“We will carry your memory with us every time we step into the water, knowing that you are out there surfing, catching the biggest wave of all, watching over each and every one of us.”
“Rest in peace Jorge Alvarado. We love you brother.”
As of Wednesday, the GoFundMe had raised more than $15,000 to help support Alvarado’s family.
