Donald Trump is thanking the sheriff’s deputies who played a key role in capturing the suspect in the second assassination attempt on his life… praising them all as “beautiful humans” in a lively gathering.
The former president appeared to be in high spirits as he greeted the Martin County sheriff William D. Snyder and their deputies at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday… shaking hands and offering words of encouragement to each — all of whom helped apprehend the alleged killer Ryan Wesley Routh.
Trump was clearly feeling good after surviving his second assassination attempt of the year, as he joked to the group… “I’m still here!!!”
He then asked Sheriff Snyder to point out his best deputy … with the officer singling out a young man standing at the end of the line. Trump gave the man another nod of recognition … joking that he didn’t think Snyder would pick a favorite.
As TMZ previously reported … Martin County Sheriff’s deputies played a key role in Routh’s arrest on Sunday, as they pulled over the 58-year-old suspect on Interstate 95 north of West Palm Beach, Florida, before handcuffing him and place him in custody.
Sheriff Snyder confirmed to “TMZ Live” on Monday that his team was alerted to the suspect by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office after Routh allegedly discarded his gun — which he never fired — and fled the Trump International Golf Club in an SUV after being spotted by the Secret Service.

Snyder said they put “all their resources” into tracking Routh down … following him for about 2 miles before using their vehicles to force the alleged culprit to stop.

Routh was charged Monday with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. However, more charges are expected.
