Honda CB350, CB350RS, CB300R and CB300F recalled in India
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has announced a voluntary recall for multiple models across its 300-350cc range. The recall is aimed at addressing two major technical issues identified in the CB300F, CB300R, CB350, H’ness CB350 and CB350RS motorcycles. These issues pertain to the wheel speed sensor and camshaft components and could potentially impact the performance and safety of the affected vehicles.
Problem with wheel speed sensor
The wheel speed sensor issue is common across all five models. According to Honda, an improper molding process during manufacturing can allow water to penetrate the sensor, leading to malfunction. This can impair the accuracy of the speedometer and affect systems such as traction control and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). The compromised sensor can also reduce braking efficiency, increasing potential safety risks. The affected motorcycles were produced between October 2020 and April 2024.
Camshaft component problem
In addition to the sensor issue, Honda has also identified a camshaft defect in the CB350, H’ness CB350 and CB350RS models. This defect, which affects units manufactured between June 2024 and July 2024, could lead to performance issues on the motorcycles. Honda has not yet provided specific details on the exact nature of the defect, but acknowledged its potential to impact the overall functionality of the vehicles.
Honda Recall Process
Honda has assured customers that the defective components will be replaced free of charge at the company’s BigWing dealerships across India. The recall applies to all affected motorcycles, irrespective of whether they are still under warranty. Customers are being notified by Honda’s BigWing dealerships to bring their motorcycles for inspection and replacement. Additionally, owners can check if their motorcycles are affected by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Honda BigWing website.
Honda did not disclose the number of motorcycles affected by the recall, but the company emphasized its commitment to ensuring customer safety and vehicle reliability.
