Donald Trump resides in Elon Musk…and he’s praising the civilian who helped lead police directly to the person suspected of trying to shoot the former president.
Trump co-hosted an interview on Areas on X and is speaking on a variety of topics, including Sunday’s failed assassination attempt. He says a witness saw the suspect running to his car and took photos of him, his car and his license plate and gave them to officers, helping them track the man down.
As we reported… Trump was playing golf Sunday morning at his club in West Palm Beach when the Secret Service saw a rifle sticking out of some bushes and opened fire.
Police say the suspect, Ryan Wesley Routhstayed for about 12 hours in a makeshift sniper tent 400 yards away of the Republican candidate… and went into operation when he was sniffed out and shot at.

Trump says the civilian witness, a young girl, saw him and “did an exceptional job” taking pictures.
DT says… “How many individuals would have the intelligence to follow him to the back of his truck?” He says the key piece here was the man’s driver’s license photograph.
Routh left behind an SKS-style rifle loaded with a scope, two pieces of luggage and a GoPro camera … according to authorities. The gun was seized by police as evidence.
He was later stopped by Martin County deputies…where he calmly lifted his shirt over his head, walked backwards toward the officers on the scene and surrendered to be handcuffed.
Trump said that once authorities obtained the witness’s driver’s license photo, they would be ready to use high-tech means to find the man as quickly as possible.
Routh made his first appearance in a Florida court on Monday, where he was charged possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
He remains in custody, and will remain so until his arraignment on September 30… however, he will be back in court before then for a proper detention hearing. More charges are expected.

Trump survived a previous assassination attempt in July when Thomas Matthew Crooks took photos at the DT rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Crooks was shot dead at the scene by a member of the Secret Service, in what remains considered one of the company’s worst failures in many years.
