Sean “Diddy” Combs appears to be in big trouble with the law.
The rapper and entrepreneur was arrested at a Manhattan hotel on Monday, September 16, after being indicted by a grand jury.
According to TMZ, Homeland Security agents raided the premises and possibly searched Didd’s room, taking the celebrity into custody based on a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York.
We expect to learn more details about the specific charges on Tuesday.
“Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.
“We expect to open the case to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”
In March, Diddy’s house was raided by authorities.
Federal agents carried out this operation on two properties belonging to the controversial musician… who has been accused by several alleged victims of sexual assault and sex trafficking.
Ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, for example, said Diddy raped her in 2018.
In May, CNN obtained surveillance footage from 2016 that showed Diddy grabbing Cassie outside an elevator… throwing her to the ground… and kicking her multiple times.
“It’s so hard to reflect on the darkest moments of your life,” Combs said in response at the timeadding via Instagram:
“Sometimes you have to do that. I was f-cked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I don’t make excuses. My behavior in that video is inexcusable.”
“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.”
While it’s unclear at this time what charges the 54-year-old is facing, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said he was expecting legal action.
“He voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges,” the attorney said in a statement to E! News.
“Please reserve judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he is eager to clear his name in court.”
On June 7, Howard University, a historically black college and university, revoked the rapper’s honorary degree following several disgusting allegations against him.
Three days later, New York Mayor Eric Adams requested that the musician return his key to the city.
Most recently, Diddy was ordered to pay a default judgment of $100 million in a civil lawsuit brought by a Michigan inmate who accused the mogul of sexual assault.
“We are disappointed in the decision to proceed with what we believe to be an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Agnifilo also said Monday night.
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children and working to uplift the black community. He is a flawed person, but he is not a criminal.”
“To his credit, Mr. Combs has been fully cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily moved to New York last week in anticipation of these charges…
“These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide and is eager to clear his name in court.”
