After the attempted murder against him Donald Trump, Ruth initially fled the West Palm Beach golf course in a car, leaving behind two backpacks and her weapon, an SKS rifle with a custom scope.
He was finally arrested about 40 minutes after being caught driving on Interstate 95. When asked by officers if he knew why he was pulled over, he “said yes.” His license plate had been stolen from another vehicle.
The arrested man was previously arraigned in federal court, where he was charged with two weapons-related offenses, a day after he was seen hiding in bushes, armed with a rifle, at the former president’s golf course in Florida.

He is expected to face more charges, but this first charge (possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number) allows authorities to keep him in custody while the investigation continues. Those two charges carry sentences of 15 and 5 years, respectively.
Ruth wore a dark prison uniform and had her hands and feet shackled during her court appearance today, according to CNN.
According to the federal indictment, the suspect was near the golf course for more than 11 hours before officers spotted him. Cell phone records show Ruth’s phone was at the location from about 1:59 a.m. to 1:31 p.m. on Sept. 15.
He was convicted again
Ruth has been convicted twice in North Carolina, in 2002 for possession of a weapon of mass destruction and in 2019 for possession of stolen property. There are currently no further details about these two cases.
Trump has blamed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the assassination attempt. He has claimed the suspect was acting because of “inflammatory rhetoric” from Democrats, though authorities have yet to produce evidence or say what the attacker’s motive was.
“Their rhetoric (Biden and Harris) has gotten me shot, while I am the one who is going to save the country and they are the ones who are destroying it, both at home and abroad,” he said, according to Fox television.
