According to CNNPhenix is a math teacher at Apalachee High School. On Sunday, September 15, he took to Facebook to share a message about the incident. Additionally, Phenix began his post by sharing a message about the four victims whose lives were taken in the shooting.
“Putting into words the events of these past few days defy description. The images, sights, sounds and actions are immense and will forever be etched in my memory and will take weeks, months and even years to process… processing the reasons behind September 4th will be a long road that will most likely never be truly understood,” he wrote.The pain of sadness and grief for the families of Ricky, Christina, Mason and Christian remains at the forefront of everything. Families have been torn apart and worlds have been turned upside down. Mothers, fathers, sons and daughters have been lost, and lives have been changed forever. Please continue to pray for each of these families. I am sure they are grieving and heartbroken on a level that few of us can understand.”
As his message continued, Phenix explained that his recovery involved “stitches, staples, and bandages.” In addition, he will still undergo physical therapy.
“I have been incredibly blessed that the bullet that entered my side and the one that entered my foot managed to miss all the ligaments, tendons, bones and vital organs,” he wrote. “If things had been a quarter of an inch to the left or right, things could have been very different. Mentally, it will be just as challenging. I am sure that trying to truly understand what happened on September 4th will require the same rehabilitation…”
Before concluding his message, Phenix thanked his fellow teacher and two students for pressurizing his gunshot wounds in the moments after he was shot. He also shared a message of gratitude to first responders, his family and friends.

Here’s What Happened to the Teacher During the Apalachee High School Shooting
According to CNNPhenix reportedly heard “thumping sounds” disturbing his class on the morning of September 4. He was shot in the foot and hip after opening the classroom door. However, he managed to close it immediately afterward.
Nicole Biondi, mother of one of Phenix’s students, reportedly credited the teacher’s actions for saving the students’ lives.
“He saved my baby. He saved my world,” she reportedly wrote on Facebook. CNN.
According to the outlet, Phenix spent more than eight days recovering in the hospital following the incident. Additionally, the Georgian Bureau of Investigation reported that the teacher was the only adult injured after the shooting, in addition to six students.
At this time, their conditions remain uncertain.

As The Shadow Room As previously reported, 14-year-old Colt Gray initiated the shooting at the school on September 4. Fourteen-year-old Mason Schermerhorn, 14-year-old Christian Angulo, 53-year-old Christina Irmie, and 39-year-old Richard Aspinwall lost their lives during the incident.

Colt has since been hit with murder charges, while his father, Colin Gray, has been charged with manslaughter, second-degree murder and child cruelty. The Shadow Room As previously reported, authorities believe Colin purchased the AR-style rifle his son allegedly used in the shooting despite being aware of potential school shooting threats Colt was suspected of making in 2023.

Put The Shadow RoomThe GBI believes Colt took the firearm to school, asked to use the bathroom, and then began shooting. Colt’s mother, Marcee, has since wrote an open letter to the victims’ families, stating that her son “is not a monster” and that she would trade places with the victims.
Meanwhile, behind bars, Colin reportedly asked to be separated from the inmates due to alleged death threats.
