In April, authorities arrested Morgan Wallen after his tantrum on the roof endangered people on the street below.
This was not his first incident of bad behavior. However, this time, it may cost him more than bad publicity and a few business ties.
Despite the efforts of his legal team, Morgan Wallen could end up behind bars.
Why is Morgan Wallen facing possible prison time?
It seems that Morgan Wallen’s Regrets about the Yeeting chair incident in Nashville aren’t going away any time soon.
On April 7, 2024, he allegedly threw a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar. Eric Church’s new Broadway establishment does not encourage or tolerate this type of behavior.
However, it wasn’t the destruction of property — and the disorderly conduct — that led to Wallen’s arrest. He is facing three felony counts of reckless endangerment in addition to his disorderly conduct charge.
When you throw a chair off a roof, it’s bound to land somewhere. In this case, the chair reportedly landed near two police officers below.
If you are rich and even moderately famous, you can get away with all sorts of things because trying to hold you accountable would be too much work. However, a little scary police cost the lives of countless Americans. It’s no surprise that it led to his arrest.
Of course, it’s almost certain that he had no idea the police were down there. But that’s the point of the charges. When you throw furniture off a building, you run the risk of recklessly endangering anyone unlucky enough to be below.
Is Morgan Wallen facing jail time?
According to a report by Life and Style, Morgan Wallen’s Lawyers they were unable to give their client a “slap on the wrist”.
His past legal troubles (this isn’t his first disorderly conduct arrest) may have led him to believe that his behavior will never have real consequences.
“Morgan’s lawyers have tried to work out a deal where he would be granted probation,” an inside source said. “But it looks bleak at this point. He’s likely to spend time behind bars.”
He could face up to six years in prison — although his lawyer would obviously like to reduce that time as much as possible.
Of course, he would first need a conviction on all three felony counts of reckless endangerment before he could receive such a harsh sentence.
According to the report, Morgan Wallen’s lawyers are telling him that “the best-case scenario is a sentence of 30 to 60 days.”
There may not be an easy way out this time
“I don’t think prosecutors want him to get away with it because people will think it’s because of his celebrity status,” the insider said.
For the average person, a 30-60 day jail sentence could mean losing a home, losing a job, and more. While Morgan Wallen probably won’t have to worry about that, it could have real consequences for his career.
The source explained: “If Morgan is convicted of a serious crime, it will be difficult for him to get work visas to tour internationally!”
Well, yes. Many countries may not want a visit from a furniture-throwing maniac.
