A Lions fan was killed Sunday after being shot and killed during a party following Detroit’s home game against the Buccaneers.
Detroit police said the man — believed to be in his 40s — was at an event at Eastern Market downtown hours after the Lions lost a thrilling game to Tampa Bay … when he got into a fight with another man.
Police said witnesses told them the two men were positioning themselves as if they were going to fight when suddenly the man’s opponent pulled out a gun and fired.
The man was struck by gunfire and died at the scene. Another person in the area was also struck by gunfire and is currently in the hospital in critical condition, police said.
Police told reporters that the shooting suspect, who is believed to be in his 30s, is currently in custody.
Further investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
Chief of Police James White said the whole situation was “ridiculous”… adding: “The bigger story that should have been told is that the Lions lost and some people fought.”
