“Now is the time for your rebirth PASOK. We will not be forgiven if we do not meet the demands of society. We do not intend to miss the opportunity for the country and for PASOK, for which three things are necessary: a plan, a will to join forces, that is, unity, and experience of governance”, emphasized one of the 6 candidates for the leadership of the Movement. Pavlos Geroulanos.
Speaking second at the PASOK-Movement for Change Central Committee meeting at the Peace and Friendship Stadium after Nikos Androulakis, Mr Geroulanos said that the prospect of power for PASOK does not come without conditions, as it requires a change of heart, a change of mindset, leadership and a plan of rapid movement and radical reforms for the country which – as he said – is based on the “Renaissance” plan.
“I ask for the responsibility of leading PASOK, with a specific political plan for Greece. A political plan that does not simply manage the country’s administrative and productive model, but fundamentally changes them. A paradigm shift is coming. It is coming to bring radical but also very structured changes. The “Renaissance” is a political project, centered on the human being, patriotic and socialist. The second reason why I ask for the responsibility of leading PASOK is because I can serve unity. This is what I have done throughout my political life, within PASOK. From day one. This is why I do not have a party group. I do not have “my own”. I do not need my own team to preside. I did not learn this way. I learned to form teams. Taking advantage of whoever wants to offer. Combining strengths and offering perspective. Wherever I am. This is what I have always done. This is what I will also do as president, if elected”, Mr. Geroulanos noted, adding:
“I can guarantee the above for one reason: because no one is stopping me. I have no internal party work. My first and only priority is PASOK and the future of the country. I ask for the responsibility of leading the Panhellenic Socialist Movement because I have the experience to do so.”
“Because in a party in power, like PASOK, there is something even more important than winning the internal party elections and the leadership on Sunday: knowing what you will do on Monday. We have epic battles ahead of us if we want to achieve our goal. Battles with the government, battles with the problems, battles to convince people that we are close to them. If the battle is in Parliament, the president must be there. If the battle is in society, the president must be there. If the battle is in the party, to choose a direction, to close open issues, to decide the strategy, the president must be there. There is no other way. The president leads by example. What does this mean? Two things. First, PASOK cannot and will not become a government by proxy. The president of the party must be a member of parliament. Because with me as president, values, political action and willingness to offer will be the only criteria for participation in the bodies,” Geroulanos stressed.
“The choice of a new leadership is a responsibility, comrades. A responsibility not towards friends and acquaintances. But towards the society that watches over us. To the country that waits. To the history that gives us a second chance. I ask for the responsibility and the honor of leading our common struggle. I invite you to punch him together. And I assure you that the result will justify us,” concluded the candidate for the leadership of PASOK-KINAL.
