Here’s What Allegedly Happened to the Woman at New You Laser NYC
According to TMZRomero claims that a trip she took to New York for “laser hair removal” in February 2023 left her with burns on her armpits and vagina.
According to the lawsuit, Romero explained that during the procedure, she allegedly “felt a burning sensation that she had never felt before.” In response, the woman allegedly complained to her technician. However, they allegedly did not listen to the woman.
Instead, the technician allegedly reassured her that the machine she was using was “set to a normal temperature.” Additionally, the technician allegedly asked Romero if the pain she was experiencing could be related to her menstrual cycle.
According to the outlet, Romero claims that the technician failed to double-check or change the machine’s temperature. Additionally, Romero allegedly expressed noticing that the laser appeared “brighter and more yellow than normal.” However, the technician allegedly continued to ignore his concern.
To make matters worse, Romero reportedly complained that her armpits were “sore from the laser.” Instead of stopping the procedure there, the technician reportedly began the treatment on Romero’s vagina.
The woman reportedly felt a “burning sensation” at that moment. Ultimately, Romero ended up stopping the procedure.

According to TMZThe technician reportedly gave Romero “hydrocortisone cream to help ease the pain.” However, his apparent discomfort only intensified.
After the procedure, Romero reportedly noticed “redness in the pubic region, as well as dark grayish circles forming in the vagina and armpits.”
According to the outlet, Romero said her skin “felt like it was going to fall off.” However, she reportedly had to wait 15 minutes before the technician brought her ointment and ice packs, which did nothing to ease her pain.
In the end, the woman took an Uber to a hospital and was diagnosed with “first-degree burns to her armpits and vagina.” According to TMZRomero was told her “pubic area will never fully recover” from the ordeal.
Additionally, the “grotesque” scars in her armpits left her unable to continue her career as a dancer.
Put TMZThe woman is suing New You Laser for $1.5 million. The outlet adds that it reached out to the company. However, they reportedly “did not comment.”
Another cosmetic spa was reportedly linked to this health scare last year
New You Laser isn’t the only facility to make headlines in the past year. As The Shadow Room As previously reported, in July 2023, the Department of Health advised visitors to VIP Beauty Salon and Spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to get tested for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
More specifically, the DOH noted that those who have received vampire facials or Botox injections should get tested.
