Brittany Cartwright Breaks Silence With First Emotional Commentary Since Filing for Divorce from Jax Taylor

These well-known children have gone so far as to publicly name their parents, sharing how they really feel about them. While this marked the end of some of their relationships, only a few of these parents and children were actually able to reconcile.

1. Rob Schneider

Rob Schneider wasn’t very close to his daughter Elle King when she was growing up. She recently opened up about her “poisonous” upbringing and called him out for not being a present father during her childhood.

Wanting to get back, Elle says Rob sent her to a fat camp for several events and when she didn’t lose weight one summer because she was injured, he punished her. When she went to him on film sets, she said he would yell at her if she got in his way. And when she started getting tattoos, she said he forced her to cover herself up with sweaters, even when it was 108 degrees.

“My dad forgot every single birthday. I spent my 18th birthday at a summer school and they brought me cupcakes and I came home and my dad forgot my birthday,” Elle shared on dumb blonde podcast. “He’s just not good… You’re going to need someone to vary a lot. You can’t control anyone’s actions and you can’t control people’s emotions. All you can control is how you react and what you do with your emotions.”

In response, Rob issued a public apology to Elle during an interview with Tucker Carlson, saying he wanted to be “the father in his 20s that she wanted” and hoped she could “forgive him for (his) shortcomings.”

2. Shanna Moakler

Travis Barker’s children, Landon and Alabama Barker, have had a rocky relationship with their mother Shanna Moakler for years. In 2021, Landon and Alabama criticized their mother for not being present in their lives. In a single post, Landon responded to a follower who accused him of “taking sides” in his parents’ divorce.

“Honestly, for those of you who weren’t such idiots, you will realize that our mother was never in our lives and is not there for us like our father is,” Landon wrote.

Then, Alabama responded to an Instagram story where Shanna mentioned that Travis purposely tried to push her children away from her. On her personal account, Alabama wrote, “My mom was never fully in my life, can y’all stop portraying her as an amazing mother?”

Following the allegations, Shanna told People that the “allegations of absence” from her children’s lives were “false and extremely hurtful.” Several years later, Shanna shared that both of her children “took back what they said about[her]and apologized.”

3. Billy Ray Cyrus

Billy Ray Cyrus has apparently had a lot of ups and downs in his relationship with his daughter Miley Cyrus, a relationship that dates back to 2013. Once again, when Miley’s mother Trish first filed for divorce, Miley called out her father, seemingly accusing him of cheating.

In a since-deleted tweet, Miley allegedly posted a photo of Billy Ray and one of his co-stars in Chicago and wrote, “Since you haven’t responded to my texts, I’m giving you an hour to tell the truth or I will.” After the tweet was deleted, Billy Ray has not commented further.

Since then, there have been extra ups and downs, along with drama with Billy Ray and his current ex Firerose. While Miley recently mentioned that she’s not estranged from her father, she joked that he was a narcissist and that she inherited that from him.

4. Hudson Invoice

Invoice Hudson is the father of Oliver and Kate Hudson, but the family has had a rocky relationship. In 2015, Olivia dedicated a Father’s Day post to Invoice, calling him out for abandoning the family, writing, “Happy Abandonment Day!” Invoice was not happy with the post and went on to say that he no longer considered Oliver and Kate his children — even though Kate wasn’t involved.

“I had five new children, but now I consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own. I would ask them to stop using the name Hudson,” Bill told The Daily Mail. “They are no longer part of my life. Oliver’s Instagram post was a malicious, cruel and premeditated attack. He is useless to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss, even though they are still walking this earth.”

While it was an intense statement, the family has continued to work through their issues over the years and Kate says they are now “warming up” to each other.

5. Elon Musk

Elon Musk’s daughter Vivian Wilson recently made headlines when the Tesla founder claimed that Vivian had “tricked” him into authorizing transgender-related medical therapy for her when she was 16. Elon also mentioned that Vivian was “not a woman” and was figuratively “dead, dead from the woke mind virus.”

While Vivian has largely remained out of the spotlight, she spoke out for the first time to call out Elon, claiming that he was not a supportive father throughout her life and was absent for much of her teenage years. Looking back, she says he was only around 10 percent of the time.

“He was cold. He got angry very quickly. He’s uncaring and narcissistic,” she told NBC News, adding that Elon teased her for displaying feminine traits as a baby and pressured her to look and sound more masculine. “I was in fourth grade. We went on a road trip… and he was constantly yelling at me violently because my voice was too loud. It was relentless.”

Vivian hasn’t spoken to her father in four years and says she wishes her life was “defined by her personal choices” instead of his.

6. Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor’s daughter Clara McGregor didn’t seem too happy with her father after he split from her mother Eve Mavrakis and quickly started dating her Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Clara sent her father and Mary into a tizzy when she commented on a photo of the actress shared on a fan account.

“The most adorable and proficient girl on Earth? Wow, you guys are delusional. The woman is a piece of trash x,” Clara commented on the photo.

While Clara publicly shared her disapproval of her father’s new relationship, she later admitted that it wasn’t the best way to deal with the issues. She apologized, sharing, “It wasn’t necessarily the most mature way to deal with the issues, but I was offended and upset.”

7. Tom Hanks

Chet Hanks has had some ups and downs with his mother and father, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. In a now-deleted YouTube video discussing life growing up with a well-known mother and father, Chet mentioned that he was bullied and didn’t have a strong male role model to help him — apparently calling out his father.

“I didn’t have a strong male role model to tell me, ‘Man, f–k these people. They’re just jealous of you. You have all these things that they need, so they’re trying to f–k throw their shade at you so you can feel really s–t about yourself because they’re jealous,’” Chet said in the video.

He continued, “I wanted to hear this. I didn’t have anyone to tell me this. This is me now telling my young role model what I wanted to hear back then.”

Chet explained that his anger and insecurity led him to act out through partying, taking drugs, and abusing other substances. While he appeared to be disrespectful to his father in the video, Chet shared that he had turned his life around and is now on a better path.

8. Russell Simmons

In 2023, Russell Simmons found himself in the middle of some major drama with his daughters Ming Lee Simmons and Aoki Lee Simmons. It all started when Ming posted a Father’s Day tribute to her mother that subtly shaded Russell. Russell responded by saying that Kimora had been the reason for his strained relationship with his daughters — to which Aoki clapped back with receipts documenting his father’s alleged toxic habits.

“My dad is just not okay, has been for years, he wants help and won’t accept it, he refuses to acknowledge that he’s not himself,” Aoki captioned a now-deleted video. “He threatened and intimidated my sister, my grandmother, he harassed my grandmother while she was sick, (and sent) someone to my sister’s condo at 2 a.m. to scare her. He attacks ANYONE who doesn’t say, ‘Ooh Russell, it’s okay.’ Well, isn’t it fantastic.”

Aoki went on to say that her father’s change in personality was very sudden, and for years before that, they had been extremely close. Her mother, Kimora, was also concerned, saying that Russell had threatened her daughters, cut them off financially, and refused to pay for Aoki’s treatment.

Shortly after, Russell issued an apology on his Instagram Story. Following the drama, Aoki mentioned that he did not regret calling out his father and that the two are apparently on better terms.

9. Herschel Walker

Herschel Walker’s son, former right-wing influencer Christian Walker, was once apparently a strong supporter of his father and his political ambitions. However, that changed when allegations against his father came to light. Amid Herschel’s campaign to become a senator, a woman came forward claiming that he impregnated her and then paid for her to have an abortion — actions that immediately ran counter to Herschel’s anti-abortion platform.

Christian later told Buzzfeed News that his relationship with his father had been deteriorating throughout his campaign, mainly because no one in his family wanted him to run in the first place. Christian and other relatives knew about Herschel’s troubled past and believed that the campaign would eventually expose his long-held secrets. When the abortion story came to light, it was the final straw for Christian, who took to social media to denounce his father.

“I don’t care about someone who has a dirty past and takes responsibility. However, how DARE YOU LIE and act like you are an ‘ethical, Christian, honest man.’ You have lived a life DESTROYING other people’s lives. How DARE you,” Christian Walker wrote in a collection of now-deleted tweets.

He continued, “Every single member of Herschel Walker’s family asked him not to run for office, as we all knew (some of) his past. Every single one of them. He decided to flip us off and air all his dirty laundry in public, while simultaneously lying about it.”

After the messages, Herschel ended up dropping out of the election and Christian took a step back from his father’s life. It is unclear if the two have reconciled since then.
