According to Fox 35 OrlandoThe incident occurred on August 14 at around 3:30 p.m. Students at Flagler-Palm Coast High School were getting off the school bus at a stop when two teenage girls got off the bus and allegedly agreed to fight each other.
Additionally, an arrest report reportedly noted that the girls were friends and had a conflict over a boy.
“One of the juvenile’s mothers was waiting at the bus stop after being informed by her son about the fight,” the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office stated. “Once the fight began, the mother jumped into the fight instead of trying to break it up.”
Footage of the fight was reportedly captured by a student on the bus. It also reportedly shows Stephanopoulos exchanging words with his daughter’s former friend before his daughter pushes the teen, and the teen lands the first blow.
At this point, Stephanopoulos intervenes and apparently puts the other teenager in an “arm lock,” Fox 35. Meanwhile, his daughter continues to strike.
Eventually, the mother and the teenager fall to the ground, and the fight between them intensifies. According to The Daytona-Beach Diarythe teenager even hit his mother with a Stanley cup.
Additionally, at one point, a teenage boy tries to separate the mother and the teenage girl. However, he is then struck by blows from Stephanopoulos’ daughter.
Footage of the incident shows the fight lasted nearly three minutes before Stephanopoulos and his daughter drove away.

According to the outlet, no arrests were made on the day of the altercation. However, “days later,” Stephanopolous was arrested and taken to Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
The mother has since been released on $1,000 bail.
“It should be noted that Kathryn expressed her regret and embarrassment over the entire incident,” the Flagler County arrest affidavit reportedly stated.
According to TMZthe mother was reportedly accused of child abuse.
“Instead of de-escalating the situation, we have a mother who joined the fight, setting a bad example for her son and the people at the bus stop,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. Fox 35. “She certainly won’t win a mother of the year award for her actions. Parents need to lead by example and not be part of the problem. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but now a mother is facing serious charges for losing control of her temper.”
Additionally, the outlet adds that Stephanopolous’ daughter is facing “misdemeanor charges,” while the other teen has been charged with “felony aggravated assault.” Neither of those involved in the altercation suffered serious injuries.
Law and Crime adds that Stephanopolous is expected to be arraigned on September 23.
Another Florida mom makes headlines amid back-to-school season
Stephanopolous isn’t the only Florida mom to make headlines recently. As The Shadow Room As previously reported, earlier this month, another mother — whose identity has not been released — ran over her 12-year-old daughter on the first day of school.
The incident reportedly occurred after the mother dropped her daughter off near Booker Middle School. However, when the 12-year-old girl left, she reportedly dropped items under her mother’s Lincoln Navigator.
The 12-year-old girl crawled under the car to retrieve her belongings. However, her mother didn’t notice and started driving, leaving the child in critical condition.
