48 firefighters with 2 pedestrian groups of the 1st EMODE and 13 vehicles rushed to the scene and are working. Subsidies are provided by local water bodies and project machinery, as well as volunteers. Two aircraft and two helicopters provide aerial assistance.

Fire fronts also in Thesprotia – Pella
Firefighters are also battling the blaze in the Tsamandas area of Filiates Thesprotia, where a fire broke out in a forest area at midday. Ground forces and five aircraft are operating at the scene, while a helicopter has also been mobilized.

At the same time, another fire is breaking out in a forest area in the Kranea Pella area. The residential areas are not at risk from the fire. 20 firefighters with eight vehicles are taking part in the extinguishing operation, while a helicopter is providing assistance from the air. Support is also provided by project machinery.

The Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection yesterday rang a “bell” warning of a very difficult week on the fire protection front, as the combination of dry rain and strong winds creates a dangerous cocktail. According to the Hazard Forecast Map, an extreme fire risk is expected tomorrow, Monday 12 August, in: Attica and Kythira, south-central Evia, Argolis, as well as in the areas of Boeotia, Corinthia and Laconia. In addition, a very high and elevated risk is expected for the entire island country and in many areas of mainland Greece.
