Zac Efron was involved in a “minor swimming incident” that landed him in hospital in Spain.
Efron’s rep said TMZ that the 36-year-old actor was taken to the hospital in Ibiza as a precautionary measure following a “minor swimming incident” at a villa on Friday night. The rep went on to tell the outlet that Efron was finally released from the hospital on Saturday morning and is recovering very well.
The outlet, citing a source, later updated its report to note that Efron was found inside the pool by two people who worked at the villa and pulled him from the water.
ET has reached out to Efron’s rep for comment.
Efron has been busy traveling around Europe lately. His last Instagram post was earlier this week, when he posted a carousel post in honor of Simone Biles’ success at the Paris Olympics. Her latest film, A family affair and starring Nicole Kidman and Joey King, was released in June on Netflix. He did tons of press for the romantic comedy and was equally busy promoting it The Iron Claw all last year.
By promoting The Greatest Beer Run Ever in 2022, Efron told ET at the Toronto International Film Festival that he “almost died” after breaking his jaw in 2013. He also suffered a cut in the fall that required stitches. After the incident, rumors began to spread that he had altered his face with surgery.
“My mom told me. I don’t really read the internet, so I don’t really give a f*ck,” Efron said of rumors that he altered his face with surgery.
“It was funny,” he added. “It sucks. I almost died, but we’re fine.”
