Taylor Swift may not be able to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics — but that doesn’t mean she’s not ready to support!
On Saturday, the GRAMMY-winning superstar appeared in a new promotional video for Team USA, which celebrates three of its greatest female athletes, Simone BilesSha’Carri Richardson and Katie Ledecky — and their winning style.
Promoting NBC Primetime’s Olympics coverage on Saturday night, Swift speaks about women as her song “Style” plays in the background.
“Never be afraid to show them who you are, especially when the whole world is watching,” the 34-year-old singer begins in voiceover. “Because there’s no one way to be the best. There’s no one way to inspire everyone else who will one day follow. You do what you love, you love what you do. You believe in your style, whatever that may be.”
As Swift speaks, highlights of Biles, Richardson and Ledecky’s greatest athletic achievements are shown. Swift ends the video by calling out each athlete by name and paying tribute to their greatness.
“Katie, Sha’Carri and Simone. Three American stars, three different visions of greatness. Tonight in Paris,” she says as the video ends.
As of Saturday night, each of the women had brought home medals for Team USA. Richardson made her Paris debut and won silver in the women’s 100-meter dash. Ledecky swam the 800-meter freestyle and made history as the second swimmer in history to win gold in the same event in four consecutive Olympic Games.
The medal marked Ledecky’s ninth gold. In total, Ledecky won two golds, one silver, and one bronze during the Paris games. In total, the Maryland native has 14 Olympic medals in total.
For her part, Biles made a triumphant and celebrated return to the Olympics after having to withdraw in 2020 due to her struggles with twisties. The GOAT made history as the most decorated gymnast after bringing home three gold medals during her time in Paris. In total, her medal tally stands at 10. On Monday, Biles will compete for more hardware during the balance beam finals.
Biles is no stranger to supporting Swift. Last month, Swift reacted to the athlete’s floor routine that secured her a spot at the Paris Games. The 27-year-old gymnast began her floor routine with a sample of the singer’s hit “Ready For It.”
Swiftt learned of the moment after it was shared on the official USA X Olympics & Paralympics account (formally Twitter).
“I’ve watched this so many times and I’m still not ready. But she’s ready for this👏👏👏🥇🇺🇸❤️,” Swift responded to the video during her Eras Tour in Dublin.
Swift is currently on her Eras tour, and this weekend she played back-to-back shows at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland.
