Olympic boxer Imane Khelif breaks down in tears after win, week of controversy

Imane Khelifhad a very emotional week… with many people online questioning her gender and calling her names — and she opened up after her quarterfinal win.

Algerian Olympic athlete defeats Hungarian Anna Luca Hamori Saturday morning… winning by unanimous decision in his quarterfinal match — and tears immediately started streaming down his face.

Watch the video, Imane leaves the ring and her team has to comfort her — with racking sobs running through her. It’s not just about the punishment in the ring, obviously… it’s about all the pressure outside of it, too.

Sure…it’s been widely reported that Khelif has XY chromosomes — but she’s still biologically female and allowed to compete, according to the International Olympic Committee.

However, she has thrown some fierce punches in the tournament so far… and, from Italy Angela Carini withdrew from the competition after less than a minute of fighting Imane.

The withdrawal pushed many celebrities — among them Logan and Jake Paul, J.K. Rowling, Elon Musk and more — to criticize the 2024 Olympics for allowing a man to fight a woman. Again, Khelif is a woman, not a trans man, as many have claimed.

Carini apologized for refusing to shake Khelif’s hand… but Hamori apparently posted several photos on Instagram this week attacking Imane, including one insinuating that she’s some kind of beast.
