Josh Hartnett drew inspiration from his real life for his recent role as a serial killer… saying he based his role as a psychopath on others he’s met — in the film industry!
The actor gave an interview to Weekly entertainment Friday… and he talks about diving into the mind of a serial killer as he did in his new film “Trap”, directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
Hartnett explains that there are many people at the top — CEOs, politicians, and even people in entertainment — who will say or do anything to get what they want… regardless of the people they hurt to do it.
JH says a lack of empathy is a telltale sign of a psychopath… and he’s met plenty of people like that — which suggests he’s interacted with some truly disturbed people in the film industry.
This is in line with other comments Josh has made recently… admitting that he left the film industry in part because he was afraid of fame getting the better of him.
Remember… Hartnett opened up about being chased during a recent interview — and those experiences made him fear that H’wood would end his life, so he left before that happened.
BTW… Hartnett dug deep with his performance in “Trap” — but critics aren’t too impressed with the final product. The film has a 47% on Rotten Tomatoes, though many are blaming the writing and directing rather than Josh’s performance.
Bottom line… Hartnett’s research paid off — and actors might want to take note in Hollywood!!!
