Roommates, as you may recall, Spotify unveiled its “Gold Standard Exhibition” this week, showcasing some of the talented women in hip-hop.
Wow! Well, the artist behind the exhibit is addressing the conversation about why Nicki Minaj was not included.

Artist responds to Spotify’s “Gold Standard” exhibition
As The Shade Room previously reported, Spotify official TikTok account shared a video offering a preview of the showcase. In the caption of the post, the label described the event as a “fine art exhibition dedicated to the current golden age of women in hip-hop…”
In an Instagram post, the artist shared his excitement about creating the exhibition.
“A month and a half before, I was contacted by @spotify to create 11 portraits and an overall composition for the exhibition< Gold Standard >>. This would be my first solo exhibition!! I was honored to draw portraits of City Girls, Doja Cat, Flo Milli, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie and Sexyy Red. The exhibition was held at @theholenyc in NYC and I can’t wait to share a little more of this adventure with you in the coming days.”
The painter also commented on why Nicki Minaj did not appear in the exhibition.
“PS: Don’t come after me in my DMs, Nicki didn’t want to be a part of the show.”

Summer Walker defends Nicki Minaj
The Roommates weren’t the only ones to question why Nicki didn’t appear at the Spotify showcase.
Summer Walker also joined the conversation on The Shade Room Comments Section to share their thoughts on the Queen and other GOATs being excluded.
“I don’t even listen to Nicki because I’m an R&B lover but where’s the Queen…or Lil Kim at least or Missy Elliott…that’s so disrespectful. That’s why I make my music and go home, the industry is weird,” Summer wrote.
