At least 14 people were killed and 30 wounded in a jihadist attack on Friday night at Mogadishu’s popular Lido beach, a Somali police spokesman said.
The Prime Minister of the country Hasan Ali Khair In his post he states that an explosion occurred while residents were swimming at Lido beach, causing deaths and injuries.
Much can be seen in images published on social media dead bodies scattered on the beach and wounded trying to panic move away when gunshots and explosions are heard.

A beach hotel was also targeted by the terrorists. According to police information, suicide bomber detonated the explosives he was wearing, followed by gunfire from five gunmen, who were later neutralized by security forces.
Many young Somalis have died in a massive explosion that occurred on Lido beach in Mogadishu.

Responsibility for the attack was claimed by jihadist organization al-Shabaab, which still controls parts of Somalia and has launched attacks as far as the capital, Mogadishu.
In July, a car bomb exploded outside a restaurant where football fans were watching the European Championship final, killing 11 people and injuring several others.
