As its impressive box office run continues, Inside Out 2 has now reached two important milestones at the same time: it has been officially approved The Avengers on the list of highest-grossing films worldwide of all time — and in doing so, it became one of the ten biggest films in history.
This week, Inside Out 2 surpassed $1.523 billion in worldwide ticket sales. That’s slightly better than The Avengers‘ $1.520 billion, knocking Marvel’s first mega-crossover to 11th place on the all-time box office list. The sequel is now the biggest Pixar film of all time, and the second biggest Disney film, behind only the live-action remake of The Lion King.
The impressive list of films Inside Out 2 made more money than it now includes Top Gun: Maverick, Barbie, Black Panther, Frozen II, Avengers: Age of Ultronand all the movies of Fast and furious It is Harry Potter franchises.

The phenomenal success couldn’t come at a better time for Pixar, which has had a tough few years during the pandemic when Disney released all of its titles straight to streaming. Its first release back in theaters, Light-yearwas a commercial disappointment, although they recovered somewhat last summer with Elementarywhich received mediocre reviews but became a word-of-mouth success and grossed nearly $500 million.
Still, there’s a huge difference between nearly $500 million and $1.5 billion. Pixar will try to keep its sudden wave of success going with Elio in 2025 and a new Toys Story continued in 2026.
