Roommates, it looks like the “I Know” music video may have sparked Jhené and Sean’s romance. PEOPLE reports that the couple referred to the bond as a friendship at that time.
But it seemed like more than that, as the duo plays two elderly lovers enjoying a special night together at a nursing home. “I Know” appeared on Big Sean’s second album, “Dark Sky Paradise.”
2016: Jhené Aiko and Sean release ‘Twenty88’
After collaborating on songs for their individual projects, Big Sean and Aiko chose to join forces for their EP, ‘Twenty88’. The album took the world by storm and continues to be a musical conversation starter to this day!

In 2017, Jhené spoke about her relationship with Big Sean for the first time in an exclusive interview with Billboard. She expressed her appreciation for their bond, noting that they started out as friends.
“When I met Sean, I had a boyfriend and he was showing interest in me, but I was like, I have a boyfriend. But we were friends, it was never, nothing disrespectful happened between me and Sean. We were forced to really, really get to know each other on a friendship level, you know what I mean? And to the point where he was even at my brother’s funeral. We talked to each other on a friendship level throughout my entire relationship.”
The “Stay Ready” singer further explained that years later, they decided to consider a relationship since they were both single at the time.
“It got to a point where it was like, ‘I’m single, you’re single, we love each other.’ We actually already loved each other as people and so it was like, Okay, let’s just, you know, be together. So it was different because of that friendship. That comes first, we’re friends before anything. We can fight like a friendship.”
Jhené revealed that she considers Sean as part of the family because of their long-standing friendship and sees him as the love of her life.
“I don’t know what the future holds, but as far as my life right now, yeah, it’s LOML,” she told Billboard.

Despite their blossoming romance, the musicians have quietly confirmed their decision to split. In fact, Jhené kicked off the conversation with her comment about a Instagram Post from The Shade Room.
The ‘Above and Beyond’ musician shared a photo of herself in the studio on her Instagram Story at the time, with the caption: “Tonight… 3 new full freestyles. 2019. Speaking only the truth. You can’t control me. I’m feeling strangely sane today.”
After a social media user jumped into the comments section of The Shade Room, writing, “Well. Big Sean… she’s gonna snitch.” Jhené quickly responded to share an update on her and Sean.
“Me and Sean are good. I have a lot of love for him. My next album is all freestyles where I cover a lot of topics and relationships… past, present and future. I know you all love drama and would like to think that everything I do or say is about it, but I’ve been through a lot of other things and situations that I draw inspiration from when I sit down to create a song. Now, Jhené Aiko and Big Sean are going viral after he surprised fans at their ‘The Magic Hour’ tour stop in Los Angeles.
As fans excitedly watched Sean surprise everyone at the concert, a moment between him and Aiko is now going viral. The 12-second clip shows Sean rapping the first verse of his song ‘Beware’ to Jhené.
“…Because you take anything and just make it everything. I’ve had my phone on silent since you called, funny, right? And I’ve never cheated; I mean, maybe once or twice. But once doesn’t change everything. She asked why I don’t feel the same way…”
