Alexis Haritsis spoke by phone with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, as reported by New Left sources.
According to KO party sources, Mr. Haritsis expressed “his intense concern about the crisis of citizens’ trust in democratic institutions and justice institutions, as well as the possibility that the much-touted surveillance case”.
He also stressed that this crisis of confidence fuels the extreme right and stressed that “it is the responsibility of all political and state institutions and actors to put an end to these phenomena”.
The same sources recalled that Alexis Haritsis, with his statement yesterday, invited the Prime Minister to convene a Council of Political Leaders within the PtD and requested a meeting with it.
However, Ms. Sakellaropoulou is out of Athens and that is why the phone call took place. Immediately, according to New Left KO sources, a meeting between the two will take place at the Presidential Palace starting on August 15.
