Kamala Harris officially received the required number of votes by voters to become the Democratic Party’s nominee for the US Presidency and the first black woman to run for public office, her president announced National Committee of the Republics.
Harris in online voting has already obtained more than half of the delegates’ votes.

She immediately said she was “honored” to have crossed that threshold as of today, as voting ends on Monday. She added that she will formally accept the anointing at the party’s convention to be held in Chicago in mid-August.
