Arguably the greatest achievement in American history is now the subject of a popular conspiracy… with many people convinced that NASA never actually went to the Moon.
TMZ Studios’ new series “Strange & Suspicious” examines strange and unexplained stories… and here we’re taking a look at the possibility that footage of the 1969 moon landing was filmed on a movie set and not on the actual lunar surface.
Conspiracy theorists love to point to the famous photo of Buzz Aldrin next to the US flag after planting it on the moon… the flag is crumpled and appears to be flapping, and people say there is simply no wind in space.
On the other hand, believers say the flag was only moving when Buzz was actually screwing it into the lunar surface… because of physics and all.
Other conspiracy theory talking points include the lack of stars in the background of videos and photos… but our team tries to debunk those too.
Still, it doesn’t help that NASA has lost all of the original footage from the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing… this just gives the skeptics more ammunition.
