This evening, the amendment concerning the special tax on natural gas power plants was submitted to Parliament, which is set at 10 euros per megawatt-hour.
Fee income will fund the subsidy for domestic electricity tariffs in Augustthe value of which will be finalized by the end of the week, so that final prices for consumers are around 15 cents per kilowatt-hour. According to the provisions of the amendment, the fee is charged in principle for the month of August with the possibility of an extension of up to three months.
To cope with rising electricity costs
This regulation, as highlighted, is necessary to address the increase in the cost of electricity for consumers due to the increase in the selling prices of electricity from natural gas plants to a level significantly higher than the production cost. It also aims to limit the excessive profitability of natural gas plants.
With the same amendment, it is defined that, at the initiative of electricity traders, agricultural benefits will be transferred to the special “Gaia” tariff from August 1st. Until October 31st, farmers and land improvement organizations that do not wish to remain on the special tariff can declare this to their supplier. Any debts due from farmers for consumption up to December 31st will be settled at zero interest.
