Tupac‘s family is clearly distraught over an allegation that Diddy could have played a role in the late rapper’s murder — something they’re now investigating with a new legal team, who plan to crack the case and take action if they find any leads… TMZ has learned.
Sources with direct information tell us that Tupac’s surviving relatives have hired lawyers. Alex Spiro It is Christopher Clore — plus a team of investigators — to investigate Keefe DThe allegation has resurfaced that Diddy paid him and his team money to eliminate Pac in the 90s.
You may recall… this claim — which, as of now, is unsubstantiated — surfaced again last week when prosecutors in the Keefe D murder case included an outdated transcript of an interview he did in 2009, where he claimed Diddy was willing to pay up to US$1 million to succeed in Tupac.
Diddy has not been charged in any way for this allegation, and we’ve even heard that police in Vegas never considered Keefe’s claim to be legitimate — however, Tupac’s family clearly wants this to be fully investigated.
We’re told the family believes there may be some truth to this allegation, and with the legal team they’ve brought in, they hope to unearth any potential evidence there is to corroborate it… while Spiro and Clore plan to investigate every lead they can find.
Our sources say Diddy’s allegation would be the most important focus of this non-public investigation — and we’re told the team is confident it will present potential evidence, including additional legal documents.
Should this happen… we have been informed that any material implicating Diddy in alleged wrongdoing may be handed over to the appropriate authorities so that possible criminal charges may be investigated — and we must always say that there is no statute of limitations for murder.

It’s worth noting… Diddy has explicitly denied any involvement in Tupac’s murder a few times over the years — and he’s never been arrested because of this years-old rumor. However… Tupac’s family wants to clear this up once and for all.
One last thing… Spiro has a history of working in cold circumstances like this — including the Robert Durst and the “Tiger King” case — so he’s coming at this with a lot of experience. Time will tell what happens.
