TupacThe family is clearly disturbed by an allegation that Diddy may have played a role in the late rapper’s murder — something they’re now investigating with a new legal team, who plan to get to the bottom of it and force action if they find any leads… TMZ has learned.
Sources with direct knowledge tell us that Tupac’s surviving relatives have hired lawyers Alex Spiro It is Christopher Clore — as well as a team of investigators — to investigate Keefe DThe claim has resurfaced that Diddy offered to pay him and his team to eliminate Pac in the ’90s.
You may recall… this allegation — which, so far, is unsubstantiated — came to light again last week, when prosecutors in the Keefe D murder case included an old transcript of an interview he did in 2009, where he claimed Diddy was willing to pay up to US$1 million to attack Tupac.
Diddy was never charged over this allegation, and we’ve even heard that police in Vegas never considered Keefe’s claim to be legitimate — however, Tupac’s family clearly wants this to be investigated thoroughly.
We’re told the family believes there may be something to this claim, and with the legal team they’ve hired, they hope to unearth any potential evidence there is to corroborate it… while Spiro and Clore plan to investigate every lead they can find.
Our sources say Diddy’s allegation will be the main focus of this private investigation — and we’re told the team is confident it will uncover potential evidence, including more legal documents.
If they do…we’re told any material implicating Diddy in alleged wrongdoing will be turned over to the proper authorities to be investigated for possible criminal charges — and it should be noted that there is no statute of limitations on murder.

If nothing happens on the criminal front… we’re told Tupac’s family could pursue a wrongful death lawsuit — again, assuming they can uncover evidence to do so.
It’s worth noting… Diddy has explicitly denied any involvement in Tupac’s murder a few times over the years — and he’s never been arrested in connection with that years-old rumor. However… Tupac’s family wants to clear this up once and for all.
One last thing… Spiro has a history of working on cold cases like this – including the Robert Durst and the “Tiger King” case — so he’s coming into this with a lot of experience. Time will tell what happens.
