Taylor Swift’s concerts in Munich, Germany, this weekend drew huge crowds, with fans gathering on a hilltop outside the Olympic Stadium to watch the pop star perform for free.
Photos of Swifties gathered on Olympic Hill, which boasts one of the highest elevations in the metropolis, went viral on social media over the weekend. According to the Associated Press, local police estimated that about 25,000 people gathered on the hill on Saturday, although other estimates have put the number as high as 40,000.
In a speech during Sunday night’s show, Swift estimated that there were 50,000 people gathered outside. “We are lucky enough to play this show to 74,000 stunning people in this stadium, and if the stories are correct, about 50,000 stunning people outside the stadium,” Swift said, according to fan-recorded video.
“Thank you for coming to the Eras Tour, whether you’re inside or outside the stadium,” Swift continued. “We’re so lucky to be here with you. And this is a really special night because this is our last show in Germany. I can’t tell you how great the German crowds have been to us these past few weeks. We’re so sad to leave you, but we’ll be back, we’ll be back to see you.”
Swift continues her highly lucrative Eras Tour this week with three shows in Warsaw, Poland. She will then head to Vienna, Austria, before closing out the European leg with five more shows in London, England.
