Suzuki working on new camera system for greater rider convenience
It’s a big challenge for a motorcyclist to deal with blind spots. Having mirrors helps, but it doesn’t stop you from looking to the side when changing lanes. To address this problem, Suzuki is reportedly developing a rear-mounted camera for motorcycles.
In collaboration with Tokai Rika, the camera will be mounted at the rear, as mentioned before. It will be equipped with a wide-angle view that would be displayed on a TFT screen crammed next to the instrument cluster. The TFT will display the feed from the rear camera to make the driver more aware of what is around them. Suzuki is aware of the fact that the view will not be as precise as mirrors and is working on developing software that will zoom in on the video to provide an accurate view!
A rear view dash cam for motorcycles is not a new thing, as you can find many of them on e-commerce sites. But this is the first time a manufacturer has attempted to do this. However, there is no fixed date for when this will go into production.
