The second day of Greek colours at the Paris Olympic Games began with qualification.
One of the country’s medal hopes, Evangelia Anastasiadou and Christina Bourbou, secured their place in the doubles semi-finals by finishing second in the third qualifying round with a time of 7m20s49.
The Greek crew were under little pressure to finish behind Australia (7m16s58), leaving Chile and Spain behind.
A little later, Zoe Fitsiu and Milena Kontou also qualified for the semi-finals of the lightweight double scull.
The Greek crew finished second in the first qualifying round with a time of 7m08.51, behind Britain’s Emily Craig, Aimogine Grant (7m04.20).
Direct qualification for the semi-finals is ensured only by the first two teams in the qualifying series.
The Greek champions will play for qualification to the final on Wednesday, July 31 at 12:34 p.m.
