Nelly Furtado says her daughter saved her upcoming album with a direct recommendation… calling her out for thinking autotune was cool.
The singer and songwriter spoke with NME all about her upcoming album “7” … and she admits she went a little crazy when it came time to autotune it before her daughter shut it down.
Furtado says she Nevis20, has reported that his autotune is not cool, period… so it shouldn’t even come close to his new record.
Plus… NF says Nevis reminded her readers that people love her music because it has so many dimensions — so she knew she needed to delve deeper rather than rely on technology to get the job done.
It’s a little surprising that Nelly would consider using autotune in any way… she wasn’t a fan of the technology early in her career. She gave an interview again in 2004 where she mentioned that she never uses the technology. Check out the clip too – she seems pretty unsure as to why anyone would use it.
By the way… Nevis is in the music business and helped her mother with the album — so her recommendation came from a daughter and a colleague.

As for the album itself — her first since her 2017 doc, “The Experience” — Nelly says she hadn’t stepped foot in a recording studio in three years… however, she felt it was time to create once again.
The album will be released on September 20th… no autotune included!
