Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 21.
But you’d be forgiven if you didn’t know that.
It’s not like any family member made some sort of deal about it on social media or anything.
In fact, the polarizing parents of 19 children did not receive a single get-well wish from any of them, as far as we know.
Not even Jana Duggar acknowledged the occasion, despite apparently having a perfectly strong relationship with her mother and father. (The 34-year-old no longer lives with themhowever, what may be remarkable.)
The Duggars married in 1984 and welcomed their oldest son, Josh, four years later.
Now he’s serving more than a decade in prison, of course, after being convicted on charges of possessing child pornography.
From what we hear, Jim Bob and Michelle still visit Josh in prison…which isn’t exactly a surprise when you consider that they helped cover up the abuse he committed against some of his daughters (and sisters) back in the day.
These are very bad individuals.
Jim Bob and Michelle were also targeted from an Amazon documentary last summer who delved into the teachings of the church in which they raised their children.
They didn’t seem too happy about it at the time either. publicly condemning the project in a statement that said the following:
“The recent ‘documentary’ that talks about our family is sad because in it we see the media and ill-intentioned people hurting people we love.
“Like other families, ours also experienced the joys and sorrows of life, but in a very public way.
“This ‘documentary’ portrays so many people in a derogatory and sensationalist way because, unfortunately, that is the direction of entertainment these days.”
The documentary included an interview with Jill Duggarwhose parents concluded in response:
“We have always believed that the best chance of repairing damaged relationships or reconciling differences is through love in a private setting.
“We love every member of our family and will continue to do everything we can to have a good relationship with each one.
“Through triumphs and trials, we cling even closer to our faith and discover that through the love and grace of Jesus, we find strength, comfort, and purpose.”
