A North Carolina woman led police on foot more than a half-mile to her home before making the bizarre claim of what had happened at the house because “God instructed her.”
Police responding to reports of a suspicious person at 4 a.m. Friday, July 19, in Hickory, North Carolina, discovered much more than they bargained for when they encountered Megan Stack Sattizahn.
The 39-year-old woman, who was described as “disoriented” at the scene, according to a Catawba County Sheriff’s Office news release, led deputies more than a half-mile to her residence.

When she was questioned outside the residence, officers said Sattizahn stopped them to say, “Everyone is coming in, the child is dead.”
“What?” an investigator asked, to which she allegedly responded, “The child appears to be lifeless,” according to the press release.
Upon entering the home, deputies discovered that her 9-month-old daughter, Samantha, was dead. Sattizahn was admitted to a hospital for analysis after she allegedly instructed responding deputies that it was a “mercy killing” and that she or he had done it because “God instructed her to do it.”
As the investigation unfolded, they additionally discovered that this was not the first time Sattizahn had attempted to kill her daughter, according to the release. She claims that she had previously attempted to poison her daughter with “crushed antipsychotic medication” in her bottle last December.
The document details that the child was allegedly “numbed” for a day and “doped,” but none of this was reported to authorities at the time. Again, Sattizahn reportedly said “God instructed her to do this.”
Because, as it turns out, this isn’t the first legal incident Sattizahn has had with the police involving his children, for WSOC just in time.
Again in December 2017, the woman — who at the time was known only as Megan Stack — disappeared along with her 8-year-old daughter after picking her up from a school near Charlotte, North Carolina.

As police searched each for their safety, they were finally discovered near St. Louis, Missouri, after Sattizahn went to an emergency medical center there. Because of this, search warrants were compiled for all of his previous medical records, phone records, and written records, for WSOC.
Sattizahn was charged with murder after autopsy results came back; authorities have not revealed how the child died. She is currently being held at the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
She made her first court appearance on Monday, where she did not enter a plea. Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 12.
