Keanu Reeves is revealing how he got injured during filming Good luck.
On Monday, Reeves made a captivating appearance in The Late Show with Stephen Colbertwhere he humorously told the story of how he broke his kneecap. The 59-year-old actor, known for his action roles as Neo in The Matrix and John Wick, was asked by the 60-year-old presenter, Stephen Colbertabout the incident.
“What happened? Who got to you?” Stephen asked.
“Nobody caught me,” Keanu replied in a playful tough-guy voice. “An accident caught me.”
“Were you jumping from building to building? Were you somersaulting past razor blades? What were you doing?” Stephen probed.
“No, Stephen, I was walking into the locker room, a room. I’ll tell you quickly,” Keanu explained.
Keanu shared that he was filming a scene for the upcoming comedy Good luck with Aziz Ansari, 41, and Seth Rogen, 42. They were in a cold swim, and Keanu was enjoying it. After finishing, he started doing the “cold shuffle” in a room with protective carpeting. Unfortunately, his foot got stuck in a pocket while he was shuffling.
Standing up to demonstrate, Keanu walked over to Stephen’s desk and showed him how he fell, explaining how his knee gave out. “And I dug it. Like, dug it,” he said, mimicking the motion with his knee. “I just dug it into the ground.”
“My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. But then my knee started exploding,” Keanu continued.
“Comedy is hard, man,” Keanu joked.
“This wasn’t an action movie with Aziz and Rogen,” Stephen pointed out.
“No, it was comedy,” Keanu confirmed.
“Welcome to my life,” Stephen joked.
Keanu was caught filming in January on crutches with an ice pack on the knee.
Good luck marks Ansari’s directorial debut. He also wrote and co-produced the film, which also stars Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh.
