O Alfa Bank announces its placement Lazarou Papagarifallou as deputy CEO of the Group. Remaining as a member of the Executive Committee, Papagarifallou will, in his new role, further focus on achieving the Group’s key strategic objectives, with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, International Network Director, as well as the Chief Economist and CEO of Alpha Real Estate Services working closely with him to enhance the Bank’s performance.
Vassilis Kosmas appointed to the position of Chief Financial Officer it’s him member of the Executive Committee of the Bank. Kosmas, in close collaboration with Mr. Papagarifallou, will be responsible for the areas of Performance Management and Reporting, Statutory Reporting and Tax, Capital Management and Banking Supervision, Asset and Liability Management, Capital Instruments and Securitization, Recovery and NPE Strategy Monitoring, and Investor Relations.

Lazarus Papagarifallou
Born in Athens in 1971. He studied Business Administration at the Athens University of Economics and Business and holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Wales, Cardiff Business School. He began his career at Citibank and ABN AMRO. Lazaros joined Alpha Bank in 1998 and held senior management positions, including Head of the Corporate Development, International Network and Strategic Planning Departments. In 2013, he assumed the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer, contributing to the implementation of the Group’s Restructuring Plan, the strengthening of the Bank’s resources, as well as the implementation of a series of M&A and portfolio transactions. He was appointed Group CFO in 2019, while from 2022 he also assumed responsibilities for the International Operations and COO sectors. He has been Chairman and Member of the Boards of Group Companies in Greece and abroad in the banking, insurance, financial and industrial sectors, as well as in the real estate sector.
Vassilis Kosmas

He joined the National Bank of Greece in late 2007, leading the Bank’s efforts in the areas of Wholesale Financing, Structured Financing and Strategy, as well as leading the Bank’s Asset Quality Control/Stress Testing teams during the first period of operation of the Single Supervisory Mechanism. For the last 9 years, he has been a partner at Alantra, initially supporting European banks in the deleveraging of non-core assets and, more recently, Greek banks in the deleveraging of non-core assets through sales and securitisations under the Greek Securitisation Guarantee Programme (“Heracles”), as well as synthetic credit risk transfers.
