She is the first black woman to serve as vice president of the United States. And now she is very likely to become the first black presidential candidate to give Donald Trump a tough fight in the November 5 election.
For days, as it became clear that Biden’s candidacy was not viable, he was projected as the favorite to “take up the baton.” The American president himself expressed his support for her candidacy.
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My first decision as the party’s nominee in 2020 was to choose Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it has been the best… pic.twitter.com/x8DnvuImJV

His political career
Just five years ago, Harris was a senator from California hoping to win the Democratic nomination for president.
She began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. A few years later, she became the first black woman to serve as California’s attorney general.
She gained a reputation as one of the Democratic Party’s rising stars, leveraging that momentum to propel her to the California Senate in 2017.
But her presidential goals were not successful in 2020. Her campaign “died” in less than a year and it was Joe Biden who brought the now 59-year-old back to the center of the country, putting her on his “ticket”.
