The Citroen Basalt will debut in India on August 2 and this coupe SUV looks quite interesting so far. It will be placed in the same segment as the Tata Curvv, while also aiming to give competition to other compact SUVs like the Creta and Seltos.
The Citroen Basalt will share some components with the C3 Aircross, but it will also have more features. First, the vehicle will have a large touchscreen similar to its siblings. The Basalt will also have automatic climate control. The cabin gets other features like a digital instrument cluster, faux leather upholstery, front and rear armrests with cup holders, etc.
In comparison, the C3 Aircross also gets manual air conditioning and a driver-side armrest. The Basalt’s rear headrests will also get a new contoured shape for added comfort. Some of these features will be offered on the C3 Aircross in the coming months.
As far as the engine is concerned, the Basalt will share its 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with the C3 Aircross. The engine makes 110 HP and comes with the option of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. While the C3 Aircross is priced at Rs. 11.65 – 16.95 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai), the Basalt is expected to be priced Rs. 1.50 Lakh more.
