Talking about her presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis yesterday in Cyprus “at a moving event to mark the 50th anniversary of the coup d’état in Cyprus and the Turkish invasion and occupation”, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis stressed that he “clearly reiterated the national positions: we do not accept the fait accompli, our objective is to have a Cypriot democracy with sovereignty, an international personality and citizenship in a Bizonal Bicommunal Federation, in a single State, without a foreign army of occupation, without anachronistic guarantees”.
“Those who try to uncover supposed divisions between rulers are in vain”
“The fact that we are discussing with Turkey does not mean that we agree, much less that we are backing down. Quite the opposite. And that every threat to Cyprus becomes a threat to the entire EU,” the government representative notes.
At the same time, he stresses that “it is obvious that these views are shared and expressed, in their entirety, by all members of the Greek Government. Therefore, those who try to uncover alleged divisions among government officials are in vain.”
