A Burger King employee was fired after giving her son and his friends summer jobs.
WLBT3 reports that the Mississippi mother believes she was unfairly terminated after misunderstanding over pay policy.

Burger King Employee Hires Her Son and His Friends to Escape Summer Violence
Shakayla Dixon wanted to give her group of friends jobs to keep them out of trouble. The jobs acted as a safe haven from the violence prevalent in the greater Jackson area. They lived in Clinton, which is a short drive from the city, where violence peaks in the summer months. Plus, she thought it was a great way for the teens to earn money before school started.
One of the boys hired, Corderrion Valentine, 15, Dixon’s son, said: “I thought it was a good thing because we could have actually gone out and done violence or shot people…” but they “went out and worked.” Shakayla was so proud of the group that she posted a picture of them working on Facebook. She said, “later that night… the station started doing numbers…” It quickly went viral. Host Nick Cannon even reposted the photo on Instagram. It received over 90,000 likes.

O Burger King the crew was ecstatic with the positive attention until Dixon received “a phone call from your manager and district leader.” The mother stated that she was told that they “I don’t want to turn something good into something bad, but we have some concerns. The concerns she had were the fact that Corderrion is my son and how much they were getting paid.”
Shakayla said to outlet He was told: “A minor should receive a different payment than an adult. This has never been brought to my attention before.” She added, “I feel like politics wasn’t in play in the beginning.” Her son was disappointed after being fired. Corderrion said, “I thought it was a fun experience to prepare him for the real world.” Since being fired, the mother has set up a GoFundMe because she’s not sure how she’s going to pay now “mortgage” is for “school clothes.”
It seems that old saying may be true: no good deed goes unpunished.
