“The rich are getting richer, while the purchasing power of Greeks is falling to the penultimate position in the Europe of ’27’,” the president of PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakis from Volos during his current trip to Thessaly.
“Thousands of citizens are living a summer of precision and feel like strangers in their own country, as they cannot take a few days off. Precision is rampant in ferry tickets, food and energy. “From the beginning, we suggested to Mr Mitsotakis that he establish rules in the market, which would not ‘self-regulate’, but would work for the benefit of the powerful oligopolies in the health, banking, energy and food markets,” said Mr Androulakis.
At the same time, he called on Mr Mitsotakis “to take bold initiatives to introduce rules on the functioning of the market with many controls and strict fines”.
Referring to the party’s internal elections, he said he opened this process “to end the introversion, which began on the night of the European elections, as quickly as possible”.
“PASOK has increased its influence”
“New Democracy and SYRIZA have lost strength. PASOK has increased its influence. We have not achieved our goal, but we look to the future with optimism. In two and a half years, we have fought four tough electoral battles when our political opponents predicted that we would be crushed. Not only have we resisted, but we are an autonomous political pole to which I aspire and I am optimistic that the internal process will make us stronger,” said the PASOK-KINAL chairman.
At the same time, Mr Androulakis repeated his proposal to the candidates, asking for a moral commitment from everyone to stand as candidates on the PASOK ballot in the next national elections.
“I consider this to be honest and fair, not for me, but for the ordinary people of PASOK who fought and achieved something that was considered unthinkable: to be the second party in the Greek region after the basin. We will strive to improve our percentages in the basin as well, facing this asymmetry, not to be in second place, but in first place,” said PASOK chairman KINAL and added: “The country needs to get rid of the government of Mr Mitsotakis and New Democracy as soon as possible, to get a social-democratic and progressive government. Not so that a few failed parliamentarians from various parties can distribute seats, but so that the Greek people have substantial solutions.”
Finally, he referred to his meeting with the regional governor of Thessaly, Dimitris Kouretas, on infrastructure projects, water resources and the unified authority which – according to Mr Androulakis – must operate with the participation of the State and self-government and not with private individuals.
