Environmental protection is one of the most important challenges for industry. Modern organizations recognize the need to integrate environmental management practices into their strategy, systematically investing in the best available technological solutions that ensure the best possible management of natural resources while minimizing the footprint of their activities.
Recently, the Greek Gold presented the award-winning company’s new simplified online platform Environmental Monitoring Programthat the company has been developing and installing around its facilities in the Kassandra Mines since 1995. In its current form, the program has an extensive network of 500 control points, through which 15 different environmental parameters are recorded, examined and measured, such as water, air, soil quality, as well as noise, vibration and dust emission levels.
The new simplified platform, which is available at environmental.hellas-gold.compresents the data collected by the program in a simple, direct and visually friendly way, facilitating the understanding of the quality of the environment in the area with emphasis on those that are directly related to the daily lives of the region’s residents. Visitors have the opportunity to navigate an interactive three-dimensional map, choose one of 500 measuring points and be informed about the values of environmental parameters, while for as many parameters as possible, tangible examples from everyday life are given to better explain the levels of each individual price. This approach makes the information accessible to everyone, even those who are not familiar with scientific terminology. In addition, the platform offers access to historical data, allowing visitors to compare current prices with those of the past.
At the same time, in a constant search to reinforce transparency, accountability and trust with its social partners, the company ensures that residents of local communities in the Municipality of Aristóteles, as well as all interested parties, can have immediate and easy access to reliable information on the quality of the environment in its area of operation.
The newly revamped platform is part of the company’s broader digital transformation strategy and reflects Hellinikos Chrysos’ commitment to using technology to continually improve its environmental performance, but also to strengthen relationships with the local community.
