Rescue teams are trying to locate and bring to the surface 27 miners who were trapped in a tunnel in southern Poland due to an earthquake.
PGG company representative Aleksandra Visochka-Siebiga said that the earthquake occurred around 6 am, at a depth of 1,200 meters below the Ridultovi mine. At that time there were 68 workers in the galleries and 41 of them have already been evacuated. Fifteen had to be transported to nearby hospitals, but all are in good condition, he added, in statements to the television channel TVN24.
“We still have no contact with two miners”observed the spokeswoman.
Television footage showed helicopters and ambulances at the coal mine. Earlier, Wysocka-Siebiga said more than 10 rescue teams were at the scene.
