The meeting between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Tayyip Erdoğan takes place in Washington on the sidelines of the NATO Summit.
The meeting is expected to be short-lived, with a view to a more detailed discussion in September in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. It should be noted here that the last meeting between the two leaders took place in May in Ankara, while Mr Erdogan’s visit to Athens was preceded by that of last December.
Based on the information, no “heavy” issues will be raised at today’s meeting, but the objective is to maintain communication bridges between the two countries and ensure that any disagreements do not automatically generate tensions.
